Definitions of Health and Fitness

Health

Health idefined by the World Health Organization (WHO) in the 1940s "is a state of complete physical and social wellbeing and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity." Health is related to both physical and mental health. Although this definition has criticized overly inclusive and unattainable, especially the word "complete" it broadens the definition of health according to the medical standards. There is a lot of factors to determine health include the social, economic, and physical environment and the person's behavior. The health of a person not only depends on the eternal and internal factors but also on the lifestyle he chooses and its activities. some of the ways to be happy and healthy include eating healthy food, avoid eating food that causes diseases, maintain proper weight, Exercise daily, reducing body fats, take sufficient sleep, limiting the intake of alcohol, and other harmful substances.

Fitness

Many definitions of fitness also mention health, as being fit usually refers to a healthy lifestyle. However, fitness is about living according to the needs of the environment and is personal to each individual. Fitness has a variety of meanings for people. For example, an athlete would have a high level of fitness, whereas someone who has recently given birth would have a different fitness level.

Additionally, some people are naturally active and fit; not only those have special concerns with the fitness industry such as personal trainers, fitness instructors, dance teachers, and athletes but also those in careers such as fire fighting, landscape gardening, agricultural work, bike courier.

Fitness is the broad term its meaning depends on everyone's thinking. Some people thinking style is different from others. Some peoples think fitness means only physical health but others think mental and emotional health is called fitness. But my point of view about fitness is the quality of being physically and mentally healthy is called fitness.

Physical Fitness

Physical fitness is the state of health and the ability to perform different hard activities. Physical fitness is attained by specific nutrition. Physical fitness is base on how much your body is strong and how much your body is active and responds to other reactions.

Types of Physical Fitness

There are four types of physical fitness such as

  • Anaerobic Fitness
  • Aerobic Fitness
  • Muscular Strength and endurance
  • Joint Flexibility

Anaerobic Fitness

Anaerobic fitness is that which is related to short, powerful bursts of energy such as that required for sprinting, powerlifting, and short, fast movements.

Exercise associated with anaerobic fitness should be intense that results in the formation of lactate, Thus increase the strength, power, speed.

There are five different types of anaerobic activity such as

  • Weight-lifting,
  • Sprinting,
  • Plyometrics (involves the increase in muscle power)
  • Isometrics (involves doing an activity in steady position)

Aerobic Fitness

Aerobic Fitness mainly for muscles.Aerobic means "with Oxygen" The purpose of aerobic fitness is to carry more oxygen in your body to deliver to the muscles. So that muscle can produce more energy.

It affects the heart and the lungs, and thus increases the capacity to supply more oxygen-rich blood to the muscles to improve their performance.

Anaerobic fitness is often the most important type of physical fitness due to its benefits. Aerobic fitness conditions your heart and blood. This activity increases the heart rate and thus improve the quality of life.

A strong heart and healthy set of lungs are a demand for clear blood vessels that provide muscles with oxygen. It helps to maintain a favorable body structure, as well as improved endurance.

Flexibility

Fitness related to joint flexibility improves a person’s range of movement in an array of joints. In addition to this, It also considers the lengthening of the muscles connected to bones to provide bending motion.

Joint flexibility will vary from person to person, but can still be cultivated with the perfect workout routine to enhance the range of movement.

This results in suppression of joint pain, fewer injuries, and improve posture as well as better strength.

Muscular Strength and Endurance

Muscular strength is a type of fitness directly related to muscle power and stamina, allowing athletes to perform more repetitions while lifting heavier weights.

Stronger muscles mean either more powerful muscles that can do bigger jobs or muscles that will work longer without any fatigue. Weight training or simple exercises such as push-ups are two ways to focus on muscle strengthening.

Endurance and strength training has a number of benefits for the body such as increased bone rigidity to reduce the risk of osteoporosis. It helps athletes to manage their weight and muscle mass effectively and thus essential to increase metabolism.
